Soul Trade

Author: - Thomas E. Sniegoski

Category: - Angel

Reviewer: - Lucy Shelley

The 8th 'Angel' novel is about soul stealing demons, weird drugs, nasty nasty people and good old-fashioned violence. A man with a gambling problem owes a hell of a lot of money to the wrong people so he takes up an offer: he will help steal his daughter's soul and his massive debt will be erased.

Now Angel, Cordelia and Doyle have to get the girls soul back and in their quest come face to face with even more of the sordid underbelly of LA. A good entertaining read about greedy people, Angel brooding, Harry - Doyle's ex contributes and a truly nasty soul-eating demon addicted to TV game shows.

It is good but please NO MORE DOYLE. This book is full of Doyle brooding over his half-demon side and his 'love' for Cordelia but you know what? Nobody cares! When Doyle died in 'Hero', NOBODY CARED. If this keeps up, Doyle will have appeared in more books then he did in episodes which makes you wonder if the actor really was fired out of the blue.

What we want in 'Angel' novels: naked broody Angel, Cordelia, Fred, Faith, Lilah, Lindsey and his evil hand, that scary chick from 'Untouched', Gunn and his lost boys, Wolfram and Hart, Drusilla and Angel doing things like locking two vampires in a roomful of evil lawyers.

What we don't want in 'Angel' novels: Doyle, Wesley, any brooding over Buffy the bitch, any visits from Willow, no return of that chick from 'She', Darla, Lorne and did I mention Doyle?

Good but please, NO MORE DOYLE.

(Editor's note - Speak for yourself. I was at a convention which showed the episode where Doyle died, and I recall a lot of screaming. The only louder noise was when the girls saw that Wesley was a regular. They should have kept Doyle and never took up Wesley.)
