A collection of tales set in various locations within the solar system. It's a good collection (published before Pluto was kicked out of the planet club) and is well worth reading.
Notable tales:
Old-Boy Network - On Mars, a trillionaire shows off his latest toy: a telepath. A fool-proof way for the elite super-rich to play the market and bump off the competition. Or maybe not so fool-proof, good.
Mirrors - Two former friends and the woman they both loved built an observatory near Io. The problem is the cost of building that observatory. Something now lives on Io and it won't be denied. Very good.
In Finnegan's Wake - A frolicsome tale of a solar system race. Okay.
Ghosts Of Neptune - Her ex-husband cost her the job of a lifetime and then stole it for himself. Now a bitter scientist is finally getting to go to Neptune. But her dreams of a gloating reunion are cut short when it is revealed just what happened to the scientists who went to that icy planet first. Good.
Moments - A short tale of murder in space. Okay.
'Roid - He hauls asteroids for a living and the latest one he is hauling turns out to be occupied. A very good tale with a nasty ending.
The Demons Of Jupiter's Moons - A scientist on Europa is haunted by demons. Good.
Ringflow - He finally made it to Saturn, it's a shame no-one will ever know. Good.
An Acceptable Risk - An elderly astronaut is sent to Venus as a NASA PR exercise. But a routine jaunt turns into something more when he finds evidence of life. Good but with a dark ending.
Patience - A convict escapes the lunar prison and the cop who captured him is finding it difficult to convince people just how terribly dangerous the criminal is. Good and yet another dark ending.
A Coin for Charon - Rival scientists on Pluto battle it out for glory but they should have keeping an eye on their assistants. Okay.
Highly recommended, this was a very good DAW anthology.
