A lot has happened to Jason since he moved to a posh beach community in California: falling in love with the vampire Sienna, getting involved in vampire politics, getting shot with a crossbow bolt by a vampire hunter and his insane vampire aunt trying to make him and his sister into vampires. After all that, what more could go wrong? Sienna's elder sister Paige returns from Paris and soon not only is she flirting, partying and slutting up a storm but she drags her sister, Jason and the rest of Jason's single digit IQ-ed clique off to go wild in Las Vegas. But when Paige's psycho vampire stalker shows up in Sin City, well there's going to be a rumble.
After the turgid mess of book 4 'Legacy', the vampire soap returns to its roots. Beautiful but very stupid people, some of whom are vampires doing stupidly vampire things. This 'Gossip Girl' knock-off book series is about as substantial as candyfloss but it's addictive. It's 'Sweet Valley High' meets 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' meets 'The O.C.'.
'High Stakes' is an okay, frothy, sugary sweet read and I want to read book 6 now.
