Only a thin dimensional barrier separates us from chaos, from the dark side.
The dark side is not separate but coexists in the same space as our universe,
in the same place, at the same time.
The dark side has no rules, no sense, no order.
You can't sneak up on a mirror,
your reflection always stares back at you.......

Chatokay and the Holodoctor continued to discuss Seven. They were utterly unaware when she opened her eyes just a slit and gazed at them. She smirked for a moment before relaxing her face. She enjoyed manipulating people and playing with their minds. Just look at Samantha.

Samantha Wildman stood on the bridge as Chatokay slouched in. His large tattoo was more prominent then ever. He sat in his chair and glared at her.
"We've received communication from the ISS Equinox." Tuvok said speaking slowly and clearly.
"How nice." Chatokay drawled and briefly thought about having Samantha kill the pointy eared annoyance right on the spot but decided against it.
For now.
"They will rendezvous with us shortly." Tuvok said.
"Goody." Chatokay smirked.

The ISS Equinox was smaller than Voyager but it was just as intimidating. A bird of prey had been painted on the hull. Nicely apt, all things considering. Chatokay and Samantha greeted Captain Rudy Ransom, Commander Noah Lessing and Chief of Security Marla Gilmore. Marla and Samantha sized each other up. Samantha found herself automatically straightening and thrusting her shoulders back. Marla sneered ever so slightly. Her black and gold uniform, power hairstyle and painstick were part of her. She did not look impressed with Samantha.
Ransom glowered at Chatokay.
Chatokay glowered back.
Then the two clasped hands and the anxiety level in the room dropped a notch.
"So tell me all about it." Chatokay asked.
Ransom smirked "I have recordings!"
The Equinox was a ship of scientific study.
They studied how long it took planets and people to die once they encountered them. They were very good at their job.

The Holodoctor hovered over Seven who slept on the biobed. His programming made warning noises as she sat up. With the amount of sedative he had pumped into her system she should have been out cold for 26 hours.
"Doctor!" Sven drawled "Leeches are more deserving of that title than you."
The Holodoctor reached for the hypospray, Seven moved faster and grabbed the hypospray and crushed it. Crumpled pieces of plastic and dregs of fluid fell to the floor.
The Holodoctor accessed his database and determined that was not normal human behaviour and was about to respond accordingly when Seven leapt off the biobed, crossed the room in large strides and accessed his database.
That should have sent up enough red flags to have a posse of heavily armed thugs kicking the door in but no.
The Holodoctor database was impregnable.
But no, Seven accessed it with a few taps and the Holodoctor vanished.
"Time to reboot." Seven muttered.
Game over.
Rules change.

Ransom giggled, a nasty sight and finished his tale "Is there anything left to him? Nooooo!"
Ransom playfully punched Lessing in the arm.
Lessing smiled. Chatokay nodded.

Later, Samantha walked down the corridor when she heard a loud laugh. She spun round.
Marla Gilmore was there.
Knives in hand.
"No personal guard. You are dumb. You really shouldn't have killed Kim." Marla advanced on Samantha "Now it's your turn."
"Kill her! Kill her now!" Harry's voice hissed.
Samantha blinked.
Marla smirked, sensing victory.
"Kill her and mount her skull on your wall!" Harry's voice yelled "You weakling! Do it! Do it now!"
"You're pathetic!" Marla sneered.
And something in Samantha snapped.
She saw Harry's face, the Holodoctor's face as he fixed her wounds, her own face in the mirror when she'd needed all those drugs just to be able to not think and most of all, most of all she saw that tiny pathetic bundle.
It had cried once.
Just once.
But that was enough.
A deranged howl ripped from Samantha's throat and operating on pure unreasoning instinct she closed in on Marla Gilmore for the kill.
Marla backed up, what she in Samantha's eyes frightened even her.
"Kill!" Harry's voice screamed.

"I thought I saw upon the stair,
a little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
Oh, how I wish he'd go away." Seven recited

Marla looked deep into Samantha's eyes and it was at that moment that she knew there was no hope, none whatsoever of winning.
"I want to hear it!" Samantha said very very calmly "The sound. You know, the sound. The sound of a body thudding lifelessly to the ground, no longer a living person but instead a sack of dying or dead cells."
Samantha drew her knife and advanced.

Later when Chatokay, Ransom and Lessing came upon the scene, the first thing they noticed was the small river of blood trickling beneath their boots. The combat had been brutal. A knife had been involved. Possibly more. There had been a great deal of cutting and slashing and when Samantha was done there was more of Marla Gilmore on the outside of her body than on the inside.
"The sound." Samantha mumbled aimlessly.

Seven snapped her fingers.

Suddenly it seemed as if all the air had been sucked out of the corridor.
Chatokay, Ransom and Lessing gasped for breath in the void.
Samantha drew her phaser "I'll be damned." she said "That was FUN."
Then she pointed the phaser at her head and fired.
Her soul free at last went to play with her baby.

Seven smiled "I live in mirrors."
