Battlestar Galactica (2008 Season 4)

Reviewer - Callisto Kennedy

01: He That Believeth in Me

Kara's back but nobody believes she is Kara. Baltar gets it on with his harem of Manson girls. Anders has a close encounter with a Raider that knows what he is. This is a good start to season 4. Questions are raised: how did the Raider know what Anders was? Why is a cult worshipping Baltar? Is it even a cult or just a collection of sick women who are the BSG equivalent of women who write love letters to serial killers?

Highlights:

02: Six of One

Three of the skinjobs decide to lobotomise the Raiders. One of the Six's gives the centurions sentience and has them gun down the three skinjobs to stop the lobotomising. Kara wails and thrashes like she's in heroin withdrawal. Baltar sees his hallucination self. Lee the mutiny leading quitter gets a heroes send-off as he leaves the military.

03: The Ties That Bind
Guest Starring: Richard Hatch

Kara contniues her sweaty search for Earth in her usual abrasive, obnoxious manner. Zarek and Lee plot against Roslin. The skinjobs start killing each other. And a depressed unhappy Cally finds out her husband is a cylon and her beloved son is half-cylon. She cracks up and is then murdered by Tory. Okay, poor Cally.

04: Escape Velocity
Tyrol freaks out and gives a rant raving speech where he informs a bar full of people that Boomer was his one Twu Luv and that Cally, Adama and Tyrol himself all suck. Baltar continues sexing up Tory and giving cod-philosophical speeches. Lee starts back down the path of King Snot again. Oh and Tigh sexes it up with Six. An okay episode mostly due to the Tyrol plot and his really squirm inducing rant.

05: The Road Less Travelled
Guest Starring: Callum Keith Rennie ('Due South', 'Blade: Trinity')

Leoban (Rennie) shows up to spew his verbal diarrhoea, despite New Caprica Starbuck listens to him. This and her general impersonation of Captain Bligh means her crew (sans Anders) re-enacts 'Mutiny on the Bounty' and 'The Caine Mutiny'. Which is not necessarily a bad thing if Starbuck's crazed behaviour and the prophecy from 'Razor' that sadly only Kendra Shaw heard is remembered. Meanwhile back on the Galactica, Tyrol is going nuts and Baltar is spewing his pseudo-New-Age babble. Not a good one. It is mostly set up for episode 6. Just how will Anders react to the mutiny? Could he come out of the cylon closet to protect his wife?

Highlight:

06: Faith
Guest Starring: Callum Keith Rennie and Nana Visitor ('Star Trek: Deep Space Nine', 'Dark Angel')

"You are the harbinger of death Kara Thrace."

"The missing Three will give you the Five who come from the home of the 13th."

Anders ends Helo's mutiny by shooting Gaeta. Anders, Kara and Leoban end up on a cylon basestar. There the watery bint hybrid blathers at Kara who at last hears the prophecy from 'Razor'. Meanwhile Anders and co may soon be revealed as cylons, Roslin broods and Helo puffs out his chest. Okay.

07: Guess What's Coming to Dinner: Part 1
Guest Starring: Richard Hatch and Callum Keith Rennie

"The Final Five are in your fleet."

The colonials and the cylons work together to destroy the resurrection hub. The alliance is uneasy and erupts into distrust, death and abduction. Tigh and co don't want to be discovered. Anders is going a bit loopy over Gaeta and Hera is turning about to be a freaky child. Good, the crap is really hitting the fan at this point.
