(AU for 'Pilot')

The first words Johnston Green said to his long lost son Jake in five years were: "What have you been doing for the last five years?"
"Jail." Eric Green stage-whispered.
"Eric!" Gail Green snapped.
"Porn!" Eric stage whispered, ignoring his mother.
"I'm waiting son." Johnston prompted.
"Selling his body for meth money." Eric hissed, not giving up.
"I joined the military which sort of didn't agree with me." Jake Green explained.
"Well. That isn't quite what I was expecting." Johnston said.
"So I became an assassin for hire. Killed a guy with a spork. Did some gun running in South America. Hung out with mercenaries in the Gulf. Shot up some Iraqis. Became a person of interest to the government." Jake went on.
"Johnston Green Jnr." Johnston declared in indignation "There are some things I won't stand for in this house: gun control, godlessness, Democrats, cable tv, and the liberal news media. Now there is a new thing I won't stand for in this house: you."
"What? What?" Jake yelled.
"I won't have your type in my home. I always knew you were a degenerate loser son but you've really topped it all now. I could even have accepted jail. But not what you just told me. Leave. You are no longer my son and you are no longer welcome in my sight. Out! And by the way the money my father left you? I'm keeping it and getting Gail a magic bullet for her kitchen. Out!" Johnston declared.
"What?" Jake roared.
"Yes! I'm the only son now! Still the favourite! In your face Jake!" Eric crowed.
"Mom!" Jake wailed.
"I must bow down before your father's wishes Jake." Gail doormated.
"Screw all of you." Jake stood up.
Eric grinned. So Jake punched him in the balls and then twisted them for good measure. As Eric slid to the floor gasping and crying and fussed over by their parents, Jake stormed out to his car. He got into his muscle car and drove off at a furious speed.
"Screw this town!" Jake yelled and gave the finger to some kids.
Jake was several minutes outside Jericho when he saw the mushroom cloud. He gawped and felt a tingle all over his body. He knew what he had to do. He looked over his shoulder at his hometown for one last time and then drove off in the opposite direction. Some time later he reached an office that had 'Ravenwood' stencilled above the door.
He parked, got out of the car and swaggered inside.
"Where do I sign up?"
